Staybridge Suites Dundee

The old Lower Dens Mills nestled in the heart of Dundee but lain vacant for years, has been sympathetically restored and given a new lease of life. Once a thriving textile mill bedded in Dundee’s industrial tradition is now a lively Staybridge Suite Hotel, adding to IHG’s growing portfolio. The iconic mill, with its industrial backdrop of bare-faced bricks and exposed ornate trusses, layered with light timbers and a warming palette, creates relaxed, functional, yet intimate spaces. We celebrated the buildings character and legacy through choice of textiles, furniture and key features throughout the hotel. A collection of bold and colourful artwork and vintage imagery reference the mills rich history and locality. A story relived as you navigate your way through the hotel. There are 85 individual apartments which offer a contemporary ‘home away from home’ haven, providing a stylish, comfortable and practical space for the traveller, which is a fundamental part of the ethos of Staybridge Suites. Varied textures throughout the design nods to the textile tradition with added touches of vibrant colours and pattern providing warmth and interest.

We relished the opportunity to create new interiors within this iconic mill building as part of the team bringing new life to this vital piece of Dundee’s heritage, in the form of an exciting contemporary hotel. The existing characterful backdrop of the mill has been complimented with a stylish, refined design. We have delivered a hotel that offers guests and visitors to Dundee a memorable experience immersed in Scotland’s built heritage.
