We were appointed as architects and interior designers for the refurbishment of the Marriott Regents Park Hotel, London

The existing core brand hotel is located within walking distance of Regents Park and London Zoo. Our brief was to provide an exciting new interior for the ground & first floor public areas including: lobby & reception; executive lounge; meetings & events space; and spa adhering to Marriott ideals yet reflecting the individuality of the location.

The architectural elements comprised of both external façade works, internal reconfiguration which involved working closely with the structural team, and the formation of two external terrace areas complete with contemporary brise-soleil. The hotel remained trading throughout the refurbishment; therefore, clever phasing was executed to ensure smooth operation and minimal disruption to guests during the works was required.

The narrative for the interior takes inspiration from the hotel’s surroundings, exploring various elements of nature from within Regents Park with particular focus on dappled light emerging through the tree canopy, natural textures and finishes and knots and grains found within timber. Routered timber panels, abstract ceiling designs & illuminated stone veneers feature in the design creating a dramatic backdrop. Sophisticated FF&E pieces upholstered with luxurious velvet and leather fabrics in deep tones with hints of complimentary metallic finishes give an overall impression of residential comfort. The bespoke artwork commissioned for the project layers the concept of animals from the zoo, humorous postcards and historical newspaper articles with a nod to the London businessman and creates some fun and interesting pieces using autumnal tones working with the warm finishes of the interior.
