Curtain Road Shoreditch
A breath of fresh air in Shoreditch
Currently called Mondrian Shoreditch London, the hotel is located on the edge of the city of London, where it meets the South Shoreditch conservation area, this mixed-use development comprises a 135-bed luxury boutique hotel, conference facilities, an integral restaurant and café/bar, and a self-contained office space.
We successfully obtained planning consent for this hotel by balancing both design and conservation requirements and unlocking the site’s development and location potential. This resulted in the replacement of the existing redundant office building on the site. An amazing transformation in keeping with the South Shoreditch Conservation Area and with a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
The design has developed as a piece of contextual architecture to reflect the existing urban grain. The ground floor contains the main public spaces resulting in an active façade bringing life to the street where previously there was none. The development includes two basement levels, ground and five upper storeys.
The materials are a mixture of London stock brick, steel and glass with a nod to the existing Victorian warehouse accommodation found in the immediate vicinity.
