Nestled between Dundee's bustling waterfront and its vibrant shopping district, Hotel Indigo Dundee offers a chic boutique experience and a perfect base to explore the River Tay and its lively quayside attractions, including the renowned V&A Museum.
We were approached by Percor Capital to re-configure the ground floor layout, allowing the introduction of a new bar and further relaxing lounge snug areas. The works aim to maximise profitability, improve hotel operations and offer guests a new opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Dundee's history during their stay at this iconic hotel.
Eighteen22, the latest addition to Hotel Indigo Dundee, is a classic contemporary-style bar that pays homage to the hotel's rich history. Named after the year the building originally opened as Dundee's oldest and the world's largest linen mill, Eighteen22 encapsulates the spirit of former eras while embracing modernity.
We designed the bar to be an intimate, calm classic space which seamlessly integrates elements of the building's industrial heritage. Bespoke jute wallpaper and curated artwork showcase the evolution of the structure over the centuries, providing a captivating setting for guests and locals alike to immerse themselves in the storied past.
The reception space also received a contextual makeover. Every corner of the ground floor was re-imagined to tell a story dating back over two centuries. Neutral wall finishes offer a perfect backdrop for original mill door panels that were retained as a feature and clever use of materials like leather and stone, as well as thoughtful lighting give the space a more elevated timeless feel while providing guests with intimate moments of reflection.
We’ve enjoyed an incredible five years since opening Hotel Indigo and Staybridge Suites in Dundee and are now delighted to unveil our £1 million investment to elevate our offering even further with the newly opened bar, Eighteen22. Eighteen22 showcases our commitment to offering guests a journey through Dundee’s rich culture and history, with every detail from the carefully curated drinks offering to the warm ambience designed to allow guests to experience local culture and spirit and our hotel’s incredible history and heritage.
