This project was the first of a new generation prototype for Hilton’s select service brand. Ica have been pioneers in this sector and have designed several brands including Holiday Inn Express and Courtyard by Marriott. Ica’s design for the Gen 4 prototype for IHG won the European Hotel Design Award.
The project started and finished during the pandemic of 2020/21 and was opened in summer 2021. This is a big vote of confidence in Ica’s remote working skills, and to the great working relationship with the team including our client Andy Townsend of Legacy Hotels and Resorts and the contractor RG Group.
Interior design for this brand always focuses on local inspiration and themes. Our interior designers were spoilt for choice given the history of lace, linen and paper industries as well as the production of famous furniture brands such as G Plan and Ercol. We particularly like the welcoming embrace of lace woven into the entrance canopy where the guest journey begins.

We started the acquisition of the development site back in the summer of 2018. Through 2019 we assembled an amazing design team who drove with us the ambition to deliver UK's first fully compliant new Hampton by Hilton brand prototype and having gone onsite in early 2020 — despite the global pandemic — we opened in June 2021 ... job done.
