This project marked the first of a new-generation prototype for Hilton’s Hampton brand. Ica has been at the forefront of this sector since our inception, shaping the design of multiple select-service brands, including Holiday Inn Express and Courtyard by Marriott. Our Gen 4 prototype for IHG was recognized with a European Hotel Design Award.
Designed and delivered entirely during the challenges of the 2020/21 pandemic, the hotel opened in summer 2021—a testament to ICA’s adaptability, remote collaboration skills, and strong working relationship with our client, Andy Townsend of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, and the contractor, RG Group.
True to the brand’s ethos, the interiors draw inspiration from local heritage. With the area’s deep-rooted history in lace, linen, and paper production—alongside its legacy of renowned furniture makers such as G Plan and Ercol—our design team had a wealth of influences to explore. A standout feature is the entrance architecture, where delicate lace patterns are woven into the structure, offering a warm and distinctive welcome.
Our interior designers were spoilt for choice given the history of lace, linen and paper industries as well as the production of famous furniture brands such as G Plan and Ercol.
We started the acquisition of the development site back in the summer of 2018. Through 2019 we assembled an amazing design team who drove with us the ambition to deliver UK's first fully compliant new Hampton by Hilton brand prototype and having gone onsite in early 2020 — despite the global pandemic — we opened in June 2021 ... job done.
